Home cooking & baking
Online workshop – Members Only
11 June 2020 | 15:00 - 17:00

The enforced lockdown and social distancing measures have stimulated the interest of consumers to prepare foods at home. Single ingredients as well as ready-to-use mixes fill the the consumers’ shopping baskets. To be used for the preparation of different meals during the day. Bread baking at home has increased tremendously, Dr. Oetker’s supply of yeast and bakery flower runs short. The sales of Nestle’s mixes and sauces for the preparation of pasta and rice dishes are peaking. As eating out is restricted consumers put more effort in creating a similar dining experience at home. Using fresh meat and vegetables as well as left-overs to reduce food waste.
Home preparation of food, the consumers’ turn to sustainability
Based upon the above defined consumer needs, food manufacturers deliver innovative food concepts and products to the marketplace. It is up to the producers of food ingredients to provide innovative solutions for home cooking and baking concepts and – at the same time – address the need to reduce food waste and stimulate circularity.
IFFI facilitates an online workshop in which IFFI members will exchange their experiences and insights about home preparation of food. New consumer needs may trigger food (ingredients) manufacturers to respond immediately with ‘on the shelf’ solutions as well as radical innovations. Today’s hypes can easily become tomorrow’s trends!
