Managing a Startup
Executive Council meeting – EC Members Only
29 June 2022 | 12:00 - 21:30

Managing a Startup
‘Managing a Startup’ is about the phenomenon of fast growing startups also in the area of food. Especially the need for vegan and vegetarian meat alternatives have energized investors, entrepreneurs as well as corporates to invest in startup companies making a contribution to the protein transition. How to manage the growth and expectations successfully is the question to be answered to in this EC meeting.
The Executive Council of IFFI will pay a visit to the company Paques in Balk. Paques is a leading company of biological waste water and gas treatment and innovative supplier to the food industry. The company operates at the forefront of renewable energy from wastewater and reduce discharge costs whilst complying with environmental regulations. Two years ago Paques decided to build BioBuzz in the approximity of their research facilities in Balk, an innovation hub aligned with the Water Campus in Leeuwarden. The Netherlands has a leading position in water and biobased technology, however it remains difficult for prototypes to find their way to the market. Potentially successful startup companies leverage on the international position of Pagues and scale up their prototypes to businesses. The EC members will be introduced to Paques innovation strategy and learn how a medium sized company can be a leading innovator in high tech solutions in food.
