It requires leadership to manage a company in times of a crisis as the food industry experiences this year with the coronavirus pandemic. And also to lead your business through a long term transformation. Each situation requires a different style of leadership. One pragmatic and hands-on, the other visionary and inspiring.
Business transformation
Senior management of the IFFI member companies is busy managing their businesses through the coronavirus pandemic. Some are successful in continuing the business, some experience a slight increase and some experience a sharp decline in outbound deliveries. The question is whether short term adaptations will result in long term transformations. What will businesses look like in The New Normal?
Leadership in Business is the annual theme of the IFFI program 2020. Not knowing that leadership of the senior management of the IFFI member companies would have been challenged in this extra-ordinary year. During the Executive Council meeting we will be highlighting and reflecting the impact of the corona-inpact on our businesses now and in the future. Executive Council members will touch on leadership, but then also in the context of managing a company who is in full transition.
Managing a company in transition at times of long lasting environmental pressure, an immediate corona crisis or drastically changing market conditions requires leadership. What are the triggers for this transition? And what does it take to complete this transition successfully? These and many more questions might be answered during the upcoming Executive Council meeting by the management of Zwanenberg, a company full in transition.
Zwanenberg: business in transition
Zwanenberg is such a company, demonstrating a trackrecord of drastic changes over the last couple of years. Divesting its fresh meat activities to Ter Beke, incorporating the production of Unox and Bertolli and merging with Struik Foods. Mr Maarten Elsinga (CEO Zwanenberg Nederland) and Mr Sjoerd van Der Laan (CEO Zwanenberg International) will share their views on mastering leadership in business.
