Artificial Intelligence in Operations
Producers of food ingredients are confronted with a new spectrum of operational challenges today, such as increasing labor costs and CO2 emissions. How can artificial intelligence assist us in meeting those challenges? To what extent can big data, machine learning and other smart technologies provide us with solutions for sourcing of raw materials, in- and outbound logistics and manufacturing? Why should innovation in process technology be equally important as product innovation? And to what extent will smart factories run fully self-controlled tomorrow compared to the way operators run their factories fully digitally today?
During this network meeting on 25 and 26 April in Zwolle, IFFI members will share experiences and insights about the use and impact of artificial intelligence in operations.
The second day of this two-day event, we will visit Euroma in Zwolle (for members only). Together with executives in operations of Euroma, we will elaborate on the insights of the previous day and put them in the perspective of our daily businesses.

Willem Jonker
Prof. Dr. Willem Jonker is chairman of the AINed Board. He has a broad background in the ICT domain, both in the industrial sector and the academic world. He has worked at KPN Research, the European Computer Industry Research Centre in Munich, and Philips Research, where he was appointed Vice President in 2006. Additionally, he is a part-time professor at the University of Twente. In his previous position as CEO of EIT Digital in Brussels, he gained extensive experience in mobilizing a European innovation ecosystem in the field of digitization involving a multitude of stakeholders.
Oliver Bird
Oliver Bird is Global Director Twinn (Digital) at Royal HaskoningDHV. As a director he leads a team that helps companies gain insight so they can make better planning decisions and become more adaptable in today’s rapidly shifting business landscape. Through viewing infrastructure, processes and designs in a virtual environment, they enable businesses to optimise performance through predictive digital twins.
Oliver previously worked at Lanner Group and is based in Birmingham.
Sjors van Gool
Sjors van Gool is Senior Business Consultant & Analytics Translator at Royal Haskonig DHV.
Annemarie Jorna
Annemarie Jorna is Chief Operating Officer at Royal Koopmans since 2021. She won the Young Captain Award in 2020 en was in the top talents of the 2021 MT Next Leadership 50. She is specialized in operations management, people management en change management. Her carreer started at FrieslandCampina, where she occupied multiple roles throughout the years, eventually becoming the lead of an internationally operating team. Additionally, she is member of the Supervisory Board of NPAL, (De Noordelijke ProductiviteitsAlliantie), a knowledge-sharing community for the industry of the North that supports manufacturing companies by organizing improvement clusters.
Jos van de Werken
Jos van de Werken is Operational Manager at Ruitenberg Ingredients.
Jasper Stavenga
Jasper Stavenga is Commercial Director at Euroma. His previous work experiences include account management roles. Stavenga joined Euroma in 2010 as Account Manager and worked as the Market Manager of Fresh Convenience and Business Unit Manager of Savory/Dry Ingredients until starting as commercial director for Euroma three years ago.
Eward Hofstede
Eward Hofstede is Chief Operating Officer at Euroma. This is a function he’s been exercising for four years. Eward has extensive experience working for industry leaders DSM and Avebe in roles varying from Managing Director Operations to Site Manager. In 2021, he joined Euroma.
This network meeting is for executives in operations employed by the IFFI member companies as well as non-member manufacturers of food ingredients. They share insights and best practices within the area of manufacturing, maintenance, process technology as well as supply chain and logistics.
The company visit to Euroma is for IFFI member companies only.
