In her element in the ingredients industry
Through her graduation project, Daphne Kranenburg became acquainted with the ingredients industry. She conducted research for ENS International into new markets. The internship was a positive experience for both parties, and Daphne was offered a job. Since 2023, she has been working as a Customer Support Officer. She is also a board member of Young IFFI.
New Markets
A career in the ingredients industry is not an obvious choice for a student of International Business. “That’s true,” says Daphne. “I studied in Leeuwarden and was looking for a company where I could do my graduation research. I got in touch with ENS International and was able to start working at the company.” For ENS, she explored new markets. “ENS is internationally oriented. I investigated potential market opportunities in South America.”
IFFI Events
As a young professional, she feels supported and taken seriously by her employer. “ENS has multiple locations, and at the location where I work, I’m the youngest. However, collaboration with colleagues is going well, and I’m given the chance to develop myself and grow within the company. I’m also regularly invited to attend trade fairs and events. For example, last year I attended several IFFI events about the use of AI. In that area, I can bring something to the company: for me, using AI is natural, but for some colleagues, it’s less straightforward. I can guide them in this.”
Young IFFI
Her employer also provides her with time and space to actively contribute to Young IFFI, the platform for and by young professionals in the ingredients industry. “I enjoy connecting with other young professionals, exchanging experiences, and learning from each other. I want to contribute to building this platform. It’s great to collaborate with other motivated and ambitious young professionals!”
Behind the scenes
It’s hard to predict the future, but for now, Daphne plans to stay with ENS. “I’m very happy at ENS. I’m given opportunities to continue developing and grow within my role as a Customer Support Officer. The international character of the company, and my position, is an important reason why I chose this job. I find the ingredients industry very interesting; it provides a behind-the-scenes look at the food industry. We’re closely involved in developments at the factory level, and it’s fascinating to gain insights into that. I definitely see a future for myself in this industry!”
