Legislation in food ingredients

Innovation is at the core of the food ingredients industry and is often steered by legislation. In the search for innovative ingredients for clean label, low or natural derived sugars, low fat or high fibres and/or healthy solutions, many food ingredients producers experience difficulties in interpreting food legislation. Are the enforced restrictions of novel food or health claims an opportunity or a threat for future businesses? What if legislation is the starting point of product development instead of the last ‘oh nearly forgotten’ aspect of the innovation process?

IFFI facilitates this workshop in which IFFI members together with other representatives of the food ingredients industry exchange their experiences and insights on Food Legislation. The IFFI commission Innovation stated that it was about time to re-address the importance of food legislation, allowing the IFFI members and other interested food companies to define the current status quo on legislation matters. What are the current pitfalls and challenges? And what are best cases and possible ‘way-outs’ to define innovation horizons for ingredients in food?

IFFI facilitates this workshop in which R&D managers, business development and legislation specialists exchange their experiences and insights on Food Legislation. The workshop is followed by an exclusive dinner meeting with a legislation expert as keynote speaker.

The next day the IFFI network members are invited to visit the production and research facilities of Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate in Wormer. This company visit is for IFFI members only.

Responsible for the innovation portfolio’s of customer driven projects for Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate. Facilitating the delivery of impactful innovations to the marketplace with a newly formed team of highly talented people.

The workshop is for innovation and R&D managers, business development executives and legislation specialists of food ingredient producers. Representatives of IFFI member and non-IFFI member companies participate and share actively insights about food legislation during the workshop as well as the corresponding dinner meeting.

The company visit to IFFI’s member company Cargill on the next day is for Members Only.
